Skyline girls’ swimming and diving beat Bedford 112-71 Thursday. Skyline’s team is strong: state-qualified swimmers stayed home, offering opportunities for their peers to shine against Bedford’s best.
Junior Madison Deininger won the 200 individual medley in a lifetime best 2:22.98, and she also won the 100 freestyle with a season-best 56.76.
Sophomore Sophia Kunisaki also won two races: she posted a lifetime in-season best 26.09 in the 50 freestyle and a season-best 1:12.91 in the 100 breaststroke.
Sophomore Angela Noble won the 100 backstroke in 1.09.87.
Eagles Noble, freshman Alia Tracy, and sophomores Emma Pettigrew and Aly Guevara together won the 200 freestyle relay in 2:05.28.
In the 400 freestyle relay, Pettigrew, Deininger, Guevara and Kunisaki collaborated to win in 4:01.79. The 400 free relay B team of juniors Lucy Palacios and Olivia McKelvey with sophomores Ella Enrique-Shakespeare and Lauren Sloan took second place in the same race.
Senior Paige Sunderman earned 236.65 to lead the divers at Bedford. Skyline divers Priya Wunjo and Jill Vaitkevicius together with Sunderman swept the meet points for diving.
Skyline Women’s Swimming and Diving team hosts Saline on Thursday, October 25 at 6 p.m.
