Mike & Melissa hope to grab the attention of the proud University parents, the casual sidewalk shoppers and everyone in between with Discovery Map of Ann Arbor.

Discovery Maps are colorful, hand-drawn maps that have become a favorite of travelers for navigating local dining, attractions, businesses, cultural experiences and tourist destinations. Discovery Map of Ann Arbor will include sites and destinations from Ann Arbor and neighboring areas like The Arb, Burh Park, Depot Town, Fairy Doors, Huron River, Kerrytown, Leslie Science & Nature Center, and of course, the Big House.

Discovery Maps will be available in local stores, restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions. In addition to the printed map, DiscoveryMap.com offers a unique integrated digital presence that links the printed map to a web application available in a mobile or PC application. The online interactive map is to scale and thus can be used for turn-by-turn directions as well as to access detailed information about areas of interest, places to eat, lodging and other noteworthy sites including and beyond the printed map area.

“Ann Arbor has many great resources for visitors that come to town, yet nothing that compares quite like the hand drawn Discovery Map. It really is unique in terms of the beautiful art work on the printed map. Often times, the map is saved as a memento from a trip or family vacation,” said Mike Schmidt.

Melissa, a certified Townie, has a deep love for the Ann Arbor area. She has an insider’s angle on our town that only a hometown native could fully understand. Melissa grew up in a family of public educators and has spent many years building relationships and doing good work for the community as a public educator herself.  She was honored to captain the University of Michigan Swim Team while in college and met her husband, Mike, while representing the Block “M”.

Mike was raised in a rural, blue-collar, Michigan town and has an outsider’s angle that only a transplant could fully appreciate. Mike’s curiosity for the Ann Arbor area peaked when his high school Latin teacher brought his class to the Kelsey Museum.  He went on to represent the Maize & Blue as a baseball player and won a Big Ten Championship while on the team.  Mike has always had a passion for map making as his previous work, a traveling businessman, has taken him to nearly all 50 states.

Discovery Map of Ann Arbor truly puts Ann Arbor on the map! It is slated to be in locations near you at the end of 2018.
