DEXTER, MI – Voters in Michigan’s 52nd House District voted to return incumbent Donna Lasinski to the State House of Representatives in January. In what has historically been a swing State House district, Lasinski successfully ran on her record of accomplishments during her first term in office.
Lasinski has worked aggressively over the past 22 months in the state legislature to ensure clean drinking water, improve roads and infrastructure, and strengthen Michigan’s public K-12 education.
For Lasinski and her family, who have lived in Scio Township for over 20 years, the ongoing clean-up of the Pall-Gelman dioxane plume is close to home. Partnering with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and local stakeholders, she worked to strengthen the clean-up standard for the chemical from 85 ppb, to 7.2 ppb, a change that will require the clean-up effort to now test to zero. She is also a co-sponsor on legislation to set a safe drinking water standard for PFAS, scheduled to receive hearings before the end of the year.
Lasinski has put her experience as a former public school board treasurer and founder of her own education company to work in Lansing. She voted against a budget proposal that took $900 million from the school aid fund to plug holes in the general fund and used public dollars to prop up for-profit cyber schools.
Lasinski is also a leader on auto insurance reform. She is one of the authors of the bi-partisan Fair and Affordable No-Fault Reform Package which, in addition to other reforms, installs a fraud authority in the state’s no-fault system, implements a fee schedule, eliminates discriminatory pricing factors, and leaves intact lifetime coverage for catastrophic accident victims.
Lasinski was first elected to represent the district encompassing the geographic majority of Washtenaw County and the communities of Dexter, Chelsea, Manchester, Saline, and Whitmore Lake in 2016. She has established a strong presence in Washtenaw County, attending hundreds of community events, hosting bi-weekly coffee hours, and knocking on over 10,000 doors in a non-election year to discuss important issues with constituents face-to-face.
Today, the voters in Michigan’s 52nd House District have made it clear that Lasinski is a strong voice for her constituents in Lansing and that they look forward to her continued work in the State House of Representatives when she returns in January.
