Gender Tending: An Introduction to LGBTQ Allyhood
Thursday, November 8, 6:30–8:30pm

How do we create inclusive spaces for sexual minorities and include them fully in our communities? The societal construction and expectations of gender identity and gender expression are evolving, and every day we have opportunities to contribute to processes of justice and compassion.

Ally is often used in the context of supporting the rights of the LGBTQ community, but an ally can be anyone who supports vulnerable populations or groups that are the target of oppression or mistreatment.

Featuring Will Sherry, director of the Spectrum Center at the University of Michigan. Will facilitates the Center’s Allyhood Development Training Program, which seeks to educate communities in methods that respectfully engage, advocate for, and include the LGBTQ population.

Coffee & Conversation events are free and open to the public.

6:30pm—Welcome and Refreshments
7pm—Speaker followed by Q&A
