Rockin’ for the Hungry Food and Fund Drive Returns ann arbor’s 107one, Food Gatherers and Kroger join forces to help alleviate hunger with six-day live radio broadcast

This holiday season, one in seven residents of Washtenaw County won’t have enough to eat. During the Rockin’ for the Hungry food and fund drive, community members can join Food Gatherers and ann arbor’s 107one at Washtenaw County Kroger stores to raise one million meals for food insecure people in our community. Food Gatherers staff and 107one radio personalities will be “freezin’ for a reason” with a six-day live radio broadcast outside of local Kroger stores from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2.

“Food Gatherers has been fighting hunger where we live for thirty years, and Rockin’ has been crucial to our work,” said Eileen Spring, president and CEO of Food Gatherers. “Hungry people in our community have to choose between buying food and paying for their utilities, medicine and transportation. Your support helps your neighbors overcome these obstacles.”

Donating is easy—make a financial gift or a donation of non-perishable food at any Kroger store in Washtenaw County, or give online at Food Gatherers is in need of healthful, high protein items. A financial gift of $5 can provide 15 meals to food insecure families in our county.

Washtenaw County Kroger stores are vital partners in the fight against hunger. Kroger’s Zero Hunger, Zero Waste initiative shows the company’s commitment to ending hunger in our community while eliminating waste from its stores.

ann arbor’s 107one will be broadcasting live outside of the Maple Road Kroger store November 28 to December 2, with an additional broadcast from the Plymouth Road Kroger on Giving Tuesday, November 27. Community members can follow Rockin’s progress by tuning in to 107one or following Food Gatherers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

 In person at Kroger: Make a donation in cash or by check or credit card to Food Gatherers staff or volunteers outside the 400 South Maple Road Kroger store.
 At the cash register: Contribute at registers of any Kroger store in Washtenaw County.
