Field Hockey: Ann Arbor well represented on MHSFHA All-State team

The Michigan High School Field Hockey Association (MHSFHA) announced this week the 2018 All-State teams. The MHSAFA, the governing body of Michigan high school field hockey, named First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention selections.

It’s not surprising that Ann Arbor schools were well-represented on all three teams. Huron won its second straight Division 1 field hockey state title this past season.

The River Rats had four players earn First Team honors: Allison Sabb, Megan Sabb, Anna Scott and Minna Tremonti.

Pioneer’s Serena Brimacombe and Rachel Ruttenberg also earned First Team honors.

Local players on the D-1 Second Team were Pioneer’s Eliza Kreske and Skyline’s Anne Watza.

The D-1 Honorable Mention selections included Huron’s Jackie Mortell and Samantha Cho, Skyline’s Jessica Courtright and Pioneer’s Mimi Maixner.

In Division 2, Ann Rushing of Father Gabriel Richard and Annie Wang of Greenhills School earned First Team honors.
Sydney Cha of Greenhills and FGR’s Sarah Whittaker earned Second Team honors.
Alexandra Streicher of Greenhills and Mary Claire Zauel of FGR earned Honorable Mention.
