Wrestling: Short-handed Huron falls to Jackson in dual-meet


The Huron wrestling team only sent seven wrestlers to the matt against Jackson but gave their SEC rival a good match at Skyline HS. The River Rats lost 63-15 but wrestled well despite being outnumbered.

The match started with a little bit of controversy. Huron’s Grant Griswald was off to a strong start and dominating his match with Jackson at 189 pounds. But the Huron senior was called for stalling and disqualified. It wasn’t the way the River Rats wanted to start the match.

Huron senior Braeden Martin lost on a pin at 215 pounds.

Jason Ervin turned in an impressive performance for the River Rats. He recorded a quick pin at 125 pounds to get Huron on the scoreboard.

Huron freshman Robert Hall won on a void at 130 pounds.

At 135 pounds, Huron senior Gerardo Macias lost on an injury default.

Richard Hurley won 6-4 for the River Rats at 160 pounds.

Aidan Griswold wrestled at 189 pounds for the River Rats. The freshman fought an excellent fight before falling 8-5.

In an exhibition match, Huron freshman Kyle Williams lost on a pin.
