Wrestling: Skyline wins three of four matches in dual-meet with Jackson

The Skyline wrestling team might not be big in numbers but the wrestlers that do compete are certainly impressive. Their work ethic and dedication paid off on Wednesday night.

The Eagles lost a dual-meet to visiting Jackson 58-18 but they lost even before the competition began. Skyline lined up only four wrestlers, forfieting the rest of the matches to their SEC rival.

But Skyline won three of the four matches they competed in – all on pins.

Diego Tambriz started things out for the Eagles. Only a sophomore, Tambriz won on a pin at 112 pounds.

At 119 pounds, Skyline junior Ruggi Soto-Ricci won on a pin in the first minute of the match. It was over before it got started.

Freshman Matt Boyer also won on a quick pin for the Eagles at 125.

Sophomore Blain Drews had a solid match at 171 pounds for the Eagles but lost 11-2.
