Girls Hockey: Pioneers rally to topple Northville in overtime

 

The Pioneer girls’ hockey team scored twice in the third period to force overtime and then sent the game into the win column when Sara Negrin scored on assist from Ava Millman just 59 seconds into overtime for a 4-3 win Sunday over Northville at Eddie Edgar Arena in Livonia.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period before Northville took a 3-1 lead into the third period. The Pioneers outshot Northville 14-3 in the third period, scoring twice.

For the game, Pioneer outshot Northville 34-22.

After Northville took a 1-0 lead, Katie Pascoe scored unassisted at 7:32 to tie the game at 1-1.

Down 3-1 in the third period, Danielle Castell scored off an assist from Millman to cut the deficit to 3-2. Kayleigh Barricklow tied the game at 3-3 when she scored off an assist from Anna Thomas.
