Looking for a way to put some pep in your step on Saturday morning? Visit the Ann Arbor Farmers Market every Saturday throughout the winter. RoosRoast Coffee is here with hot coffee and Nemeth Orchard has deluxe hot cider to tempt you into the crisp, fresh air. Plus, parking in the market lot is FREE all winter. There are plenty of market goodies to make your visit worthwhile. You’ll find locally raised meats and eggs, a wide variety of ‘straight from the farm’ produce, mushrooms, chèvre, Polish specialty foods, Maple syrup, soy candles, chocolate ganache, handmade jams and soaps and much more. Simply Spanish will be here serving hot Spanish food from their food truck. 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Stewardship Workday – Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
Monday, Jan. 21, Barton Nature Area, 1-3 p.m. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said “anyone can be great because anyone can serve.” Honor his legacy by turning your “day off” into a “day on” for community service at Barton Nature Area. The wetlands along this horseshoe shaped curve in the river benefit both humans and wildlife. Help us improve these wetlands and create habitat for turtles. Meet at the Barton Dam parking lot off Huron River Drive. Please dress in layers and wear shoes suitable for snow or wet ground. All participants must complete a release form, and all minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools, snacks, and know-how provided.

Winter Wonderland Monday
Join us at Veterans Memorial Indoor Ice Arena on Monday, Jan. 21 from 1:10 a.m-1:10 p.m. as GIVE 365 hosts free activities activities with your paid admission. Enjoy crafts, games and more on and off the ice. FUN FOR ALL AGES! We also have an additional open skating session from 3-4:30 p.m. 2150 Jackson Ave.

Swim with us despite the cold weather!
Mack Indoor Pool will be open on Monday, Jan. 21. We’re offering open swimming  from noon-9:30 p.m. Enjoy the pool despite the cold temps outside! You’ll find us at 715 Brooks St. inside Ann Arbor Open School. http://www.a2gov.org/mack.

Enjoy open-air skating on Monday
Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena has extended open skating hours on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Visit the arena Monday, Jan. 21 from noon-2 p.m. for open skating. We have a heated lobby and you can rent skates from us. We hope to see you then. 2751 Packard Road.

Citizen Pruner Training
Are you looking for a new and unique way to volunteer in the community? Consider becoming a citizen pruner! Citizen pruners volunteer at tree pruning workdays that happen on select weekends between January and March. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. Please note that both sessions and a commitment to volunteering with the program is required. Register for Learn-to-Skate/Beginner Hockey at Veterans Memorial Ice Arena
Sign up now for Session 3, Jan. 21-March 16 (8 classes). $72 resident/$90 nonresident.
Session #4, March 18-April 27 (6 classes). $55 resident/$67 nonresident.

We also offer Adult Recreational Hockey for players who have not played in organized leagues and for players 18 or older, male or female. Trades will be made through the season to keep teams fair. No checking is allowed with emphasis on fun. Every player must register with USA HOCKEY insurance. *Schedule subject to change due to high school. Fee per player is $217, and includes a complimentary jersey. Returning players with a jersey are $197 and goalies are free. Winter Season #2: Jan. 12-March 2 and Spring Season #3: March 5-April 27.

Registration open for Mack Indoor Pool’s Manta Rays Swim Team
Looking for a fun way to get involved in competitive swimming? If your child, ages 6-17, likes to swim, have fun and is interested in meeting new people, then our swim team is for them. The Mack Pool Swim Team is an inclusive team for all swimmers able to swim one length of the pool, front crawl. We encourage families and swimmers with special needs to join our club and have experienced coaches to meet the needs of your swimmer. There will be no mandatory practice or meet requirements for the swim team, and swimmers will be able to determine what they want their level of commitment to be. The Mack Swim Team will participate in the Southern Michigan Swim League (SMSL) which offers competition in five dual meets along with a championship meet each session. The team will run in two 12-week sessions.

* Session 2, Jan. 6-March 27. Ages 11 and up: Monday-Friday, 4:15-5:30 p.m.; Ages 10 and under: Monday-Friday, 5:30-6:30 p.m. $200 resident; $250 nonresident per session. Day Camps/Summer Registration Begins Feb. 1
On Friday, Feb. 1 registration opens for Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation summer day camps at Argo and Gallup Canoe Liveries, Buhr and Fuller Park pools and Huron Hills Golf Course. Make your Victorian Valentine Tea reservation by Feb. 4
Victorian Valentine Teas at the Kempf House will be Feb. 9-10 at 1:30 p.m. Join us for an elegant traditional tea, with sweet and savory offerings — one seating on Saturday, one on Sunday. Period attire is welcome. This popular fundraiser usually sells out well in advance.
