Boys Basketball: Dreadnaughts bounce back with easy win at Pinckney

The Pinckney Pirates were in the wrong place at the wrong time on Tuesday night.

After two tough losses, the latest coming at the buzzer to rival Chelsea on Friday night at home, the Dexter Dreadnaughts boys’ basketball team hit the road for an SEC match-up with Pinckney.

The Dreadnaughts made sure this one wasn’t going to be decided at the buzzer. In fact, it was pretty much decided by halftime as the Dreads knocked down 12 triples in the game in an easy 64-39 victory over Pinckney.

Led by Marco Lucchesi’s eight points, Dexter jumped out to a 19-10 first quarter lead. The visitors pushed the advantage to 35-19 at halftime. Dexter took a commanding 53-27 lead into the final quarter.

Lucchesi, a junior, led all scorers with 16 points. He also led Dexter with four triples in the game. Junior Ryan Trinkle made three three-pointers and finished with 11 points in the win.

Also putting up impressive numbers for the Dreads were senior Caden Doll (eight points, all in the fourth quarter), senior Andy Durand (seven points), junior Kellen Porter (six points) and senior Rory Tell (five points).

Dexter will host Tecumseh on Friday in a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls tip off at 5:30 followed by the boys at 7.
