Swimming: Eagles soar to easy win over visiting Pinckney

The Skyline boys’ swimming and diving team hosted the Pinckney Pirates on Saturday and do what Skyline swimmers do – win!

The Eagles won eight of nine individual events highlighted by a sweep in the 50 free with Shane MacNeil, Kareem El-Tawil, and Alex Kurniawan taking the top three spots.

The Eagles also finished first and second in diving (Henry Schirmer & Andrew Ceely), 500 free (Daniel Koselka & Ben Deininger), and 100 breaststroke (Derek Mrachko & Alex Kurniawan).

A quartet of freshman Eagles also won the 400 free relay, and set a freshman school record in the process, with Matthew Lee, Ben Kurniawan, Ben Deininger, and Evan McKelvey combining to swim the relay on 3:25.45.

Additionally, excellent swims were turned in on Saturday by Bassem El-Tawil (100 free), Aidan Majorprice (100 free), Onat Ozer (50 free), Conor Pyle (500 free) and Kyle Rodriguez (100 free).

In an earlier meet against Monroe, there was an omission in the results – in that meet the Eagles swept the 50 free event with Derek Mrachko, Matthew Lee, and Noah Boucher finishing first, second, and third, respectively.

This week the Eagles travel to Bedford on Thursday evening for a dual meet, and next weekend is the Michigan Swim Coaches Association (MISCA) meet.
