Boys Swimming: Huron falls to Saline in SEC dual-meet

 

The Huron boys’ swimming and diving team faced a tough challenge on Thursday against Saline. And while the Hornets posted a 132-54 win over the River Rats, Huron posted plenty of strong performances.

In the medley relay, the Huron team of Eli Atkinson, Kevin Zhou, AJ Stewart and Jonathan Jiang touched second in 1:38.78.

Huron’s Dylan Schmitzerle was fourth in the 200 free (1:55.41).

Stewart, only a sophomore, touched second in the 50 free with a time of 23.01. Brandon Geng was fifth in 25.05.

Huron senior Kyle Huehn won diving with 274.10 points. Alex Joseph was fifth (108.90).

Jiang was fourth in the butterfly in 1:02.59.

Atkinson touched second in the 100 free in 48.84 and Stewart was fourth (51.55).

Ben Hires was second in the 500 free in 4:56.74.

The Huron team of Jiang, Kevin Zhou, Brian Moskus and Ji Ung Hyun was second in the 200 free in 1:36.01.

Atkinson touched second in the backstroke in 57.10 and Dylan Schmitzerle was fifth (1:04.38).

In the breaststroke, Zhou was second (1:02.92) and Hires fifth (1:12.93).

The 400 free relay team of Atkinson, Stewart, Schmitzerle and Hyun was second in 3:33.34.
