Girls Basketball: River Rats knock off Saline in double overtime


The Huron girls’ basketball team continues to up its game as the postseason becomes more and more in focus. On Feb. 8, Huron won its biggest game of the year against previously league unbeaten Pioneer.

The River Rats have kept things rolling in the right direction. In their only game last week, Huron headed to Saline and knocked off the Hornets for the second time this season.

The River Rats needed extra time but still were able to topple Saline 67-65 in double overtime.

Talented junior guard Reeya Patel led Huron with 22 points and also dished off six assists.

Junior Siena Smith had 15 points and five assists, Alexa Lyon had 11 points, and Kaiden Glenn had 11 rebounds.

Huron will play at Skyline at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday as part of the varsity basketball doubleheader. The boys play at 7 p.m. The girls also host Ypsilanti at 7 p.m. on Friday in an SEC crossover game.
