Dunk Tank II: Dexter swimmers help lead Club Wolverine boys’ team to first at states

The Club Wolverine boys’ team finished first with 2,530 points in a dominating performance in the SCY Club State Meet at the University of Michigan. Oly Swimming was a distant second (1,137.5) followed by Saline Swim Team (985), Plymouth-Canton Cruisers (845) and Great Lakes Tritons (625).

Here is a look at how the Club Wolverine boys did in the meet:

In the 13-14 1000 freestyle, Matthew Adanin finished first in 9:58.26. Nathaniel Johnston was sixth. In the 15 and over 1000 freestyle, Zane Rosely was third.

In the 13-14 800 freestyle relay, the team of Adanin, John McHugh, Tyler Ray and Tucker Briggs took first in 7:18.44.

CW dominated the 800 free relay with two of the top three spots. The team of Niklas Eberly, Casey Dolen, Matthew Segal and Zane Rosely touched second in 6:45.35 and the foursome of Abraham Apfel, Matthew Kozma, John Cameron and Kyle Tschannnen were third in 6:56.46.
In the 13-14 200 breaststroke, Luke Newcomb was eighth and Caeden Couch was ninth. In the 200 breaststroke, Wesley Richards was seventh, Matthew Hardt was eighth and Matthew Williams was ninth.

In the 13-14 100 butterfly, Tyler Ray was second, Nolan Gresens was fourth and Tucker Briggs seventh. In the 100 butterfly, Zane Rosely was fifth.

In the 13-14 200 freestyle, Adanin touched first with a time of 1:45.04. Tucker Briggs was sixth. In the 200 freestyle, Abraham Apfel was second, Dolen seventh and John Cameron 10th.

In the 13-14 400 IM, Ray was seventh, Nathaniel Johnston 10th and Samuel Stein-Perlman 11th. In the 400 IM, Zane Rosely was first in 3:59.03, Apfel was fourth and Clayton Kinnard ninth.
In the 13-14 400 freestyle relay, the team of Adanin, Ray, McHugh and Briggs took first in 3:18.59. The 400 free relay was another big event for CW as their depth continued to shine. Eberly, Segal, Tschannen and Dolen was first in 3:04.07. The team of Apfel, Davis Klein, Rosely and Cameron was third in 3:09.66.

In the 13-14 200 medley relay, the team of Adanin, Couch, Gresens and Briggs touched first in 1:39.86. CW also took fifth (Samuel Keranen, Ray, Newcomb and McHugh). In the 200 medley relay, the foursome of Apfel, Eberly, Segal and Dolan finished first in 1:33.06. CW (Kozma, Tschannen, Klein and Williams) also took fifth.

In the 13-14 200 IM, Couch was ninth and Ray 10th. CW owned the 200 IM grabbing the first three spots for the sweep. Apfel was first in 1:52.07 followed by Klein (1:52.48) and Segal (1:52.50) – now that was close. Luis Miranda Almaraz was 10th.

In the 13-14 50 freestyle, Briggs was first in 22.27. In the 50 free, Eberly was second (20.64) and Segal third (21.12). Dolen was 10th.

In the 13-14 100 backstroke, Adanin was second (52.82) and Ray ninth. In the 100 back, Apfel was second (50.22), Klein seventh and John Cameron 10th.

In the 13-14 500 freestyle, Adanin was first in 4:46.00 and Johnston was eighth. In the 500 free, Rosely was ninth.

In the 13-14 200 freestyle relay, the team of Adanin, Ray, McHugh and Briggs was second in 1:30.69. CW (Couch, Johnston, Nolan Gresens and Benson Richards) also finished sixth. In the 200 free relay, the foursome of Segal, Tschannen, Eberly and Dolen touched first in 1:24.30. The team of Klein, Henry Cramer, Brian Hussey and Matthew Williams was sixth.

In the 13-14 200 butterfly, Ray touched third. CW brought out the brooms in the in the 200 butterfly, sweeping the top three spots. Eberly was first (1:49.22) followed by Rosely (1:51.75) and Benjamin Kurniawan (1:55.19).

In the 13-14 100 breaststroke, Couch was seventh. In the 100 breaststroke, Segal was third (56.18), Klein fourth (56.91), Matthew Hardt sixth and Wesley Richards eighth.

In the 13-14 backstroke, Adanin was second (1:56.64) and McHugh was seventh. In the 100 back, Apfel was first in 1:47.99. John Cameron was fourth, Kinnard fifth and Dolen sixth.

In the 13-14 100 freestyle, Briggs landed first in 47.93. In the 100 free, Segal was second (46.63) and Apfel was seventh.

In the 13-14 400 medley relay, the team of Adanin, Ray, Couch and Briggs was second in 3:38.24. CW (Keranen, Andy Mak, Ryan Gurgel and Andrew Repp) was fourth in 3:49.31. The CW older swimmers splashed their way to the top two spots in the 400 medley relay. The team of Apfel, Segal, Eberly and Dolen was first in 3:23.61 while the foursome of Cameron, Tschannen, Klein and Williams was second in 3:29.81.

In the 13-14 1650 freestyle, Adanin was first in 16:54.45 and Johnston was fourth.
