Soccer Season Preview: Pioneers kick things off with a young roster

The Pioneer girls’ soccer team kicks off the season with a pitch full of youth but plenty of hope for a strong year.

“We are extremely positive with the amount of youth on the roster,” says Coach Christopher Coleman. “If we can absorb the hits in the early part of the season then we could have a great growth by the end of it.”

The “young” Pioneers feature six freshmen and seven sophomores.

Pioneer went 4-5-3 last year. Zoe Homyak is one of the top returners from a year ago and could see time at multiple positions.

Top new players include freshmen Carly Baker, Angela Lee, Senna Neubauer and sophomore Victoria Nweze.

“We should have some good team chemistry and there is a desire to improve,” Coleman says. “We need to work on defensive organization, and offensive and defensive transition.”
