Dreadbots: Dexter’s FIRST Robotics team has strong start at State Championships

The Dreadbots, Dexter’s FIRST Robotics team, completed the qualifying rounds in the Dow Division at the State Championships at Saginaw Valley State University.

The Dreadbots, who finished 14th out of 40 teams, were selected by the No. 8 alliance which is captained by 4970: ICE Cubed from Harris and also includes 1076: Pi-Hi Samurai from Ann Arbor.

Division playoffs begin Saturday (April 13) at 9:30 a.m. as they go up against the #1 alliance.  Dexter is excited to be competing with their friends from PI-Hi! It’s more than likely that both the Dreadbots and Pi-Hi will qualify for FIRST Championship-Detroit.

Dexter’s FIRST Robotics team turned in a strong performance at the Lincoln Regional Competition, held March 22 and 23 at Ypsilanti’s Lincoln High School.  Dexter’s 2nd place finish, along with their earlier 1st place finish at the Belleville competition, had the team currently ranked 9th in the state, out of the 549 teams competing in Michigan in 2019.
