GrieveWell is bringing their grief services to Dexter starting on April 15

Grief impacts everyone at some point in their lives, and although grief is a natural part of life, it is one for which we are often ill prepared. While there is no right way to grieve, the bereaved are often unaware of things they can do or resources they can utilize to help them “grieve well.” At the same time, those who surround them are unsure of what they can do to help. To address this important issue, the Dexter Community fund (managed by the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation) has provided funding to Ann Arbor based non-profit GrieveWell to bring grief recourses to the Dexter Community.

On April 15, GrieveWell will be hosting a free 1-hour workshop at the Dexter District Library (3255 Alpine Dr. Dexter, MI 48130) from 6:30-7:30 PM. Come learn about grief and the effects it has on your physical and emotional health, and receive information and resources to help you navigate your grief journey or support someone in grief. GrieveWell also offers no-cost peer support to adults in grief, and will be hosting an educational pop up during Dexter Daze to bring resources directly to the community.

MORE ON GRIEVE WELL

Past participants have said that the Understanding Grief workshop provided…
“validation of my own experience”
“confirmation about how I’ve been feeling”
and “helped me understand the secondary losses, the ripples we experience during our grieving process.”

The Dexter Community Fund (DCF) is a permanent endowment dedicated to addressing community needs and enriching the quality of life within the Dexter community. Founded in 2014, the DCF is a source of community capital to support and invest in initiatives and non-profit organizations in the arts and culture, education, environment, youth, senior services, health and wellness, human services, and/or community improvement. As a permanent endowment fund at the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation (AAACF), the DCF benefits from AAACF’s professional fund management and investment expertise.
