Highlights from the dual meet with Ypsilanti:

  • The 100m dash can be summed up by pointing out the 19 PRs among 26 athletes. Those who didn’t score PRs posted SRs. • The open 400m was an exciting race for the mens and womens teams. Liam Buller broke a minute time to win the race with 55.8 seconds. Keegan Kipke and Ethan Martz both ran 1:01. Aiden McConnell of the women’s team finished in second place with a time of 1:04 while Emma Chevillet (1:08) and Kyler Greatorex (1:36) took third and fifth places.
  • The top 7 spots in the 800m went to the Dexter boys, while the girls took the top 6 spots in the womens race. The top runners were Seth Read (2:10), Liam Buller (2:13) and Ransom Duncan (2:16), Megyn Scafasci (2:33), Ashley Mitchell (2:45), and Jessica Hoehn (2:51).
  • Ypsilanti did not field any players in the distance races. The top milers were Owen Huard (4:34) and Morgan Cobb (6:02). The top two-milers were Nathan Larson (10:01) and Anna Varitek (11:56).
  • Wilson Kasischke and Nicole Bow took the top spots in the hurdle races (mens 110/300 and womens 100/300)
  • The Dexter team prevailed in the mens and womens relays (4X100m/4X200m/4X800m) with the exception of the women’s 4X100 which was swept by Ypsilanti.
  • James Livingston (36’6.5”), Adam Greve (35’5”), and James Blankenship (35’1”) ruled the shotput and discus (Blankenship 100’9.5”, Greve 97’3.5”, and Livingston 91’4”). Sophomore Maya Calloway won both the shotput (24’4” PR) and discus (62’9”). Sydney Butler (21’6”) and Katie Kruger (20’7”) also topped the shotput. Sydney (54’10”) and Angel Palmer (54’) also scored well in the discus.

  • John Fraser (5’4” PR) and Eva Gaetino (5’ PR) won the high jump competition.
  • In the pole vault, Henry Sheldon (14’1”) and Noah Schultz (13’) were at 1st and 2nd place, while Nicole Bow and Josie Mettes both vaulted 11’.
  • Seniors Cameron O’Day (18’5”) and Nicole Bow (15’2”) won the mens and womens long jump.

In a surprising turn of events, the Dexter men fielded 9 teams for the mens 4X400m relay which required one more baton than the team had available. Someone donated a running shoe for the extra baton, and off they ran.

The Whitmore Lake Trojan Relays start at 3:30 on Friday, April 12 for field events and 4:30 for races. Admission is $5, and the address is 7430 Whitmore Lake Rd at the high school track. Athletes are limited to one relay team per event and three in each field event.

Dexter also hosts the annual April Showers Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
