Flipside Art Studio in Ann Arbor & Dexter announces summer art camp programs

Flipside Art Studio, which believes that creativity and self-expression go hand-in-hand and become a transformative experience, announced its full schedule of summer art camps – and there is a camp for everyone.

Flipside Art Studio, with classes also offered by Ann Arbor Rec & Ed and Dexter Public Schools has two studios, including the new location in Dexter:

Both studios offer art classes, workshops, parties (and more!) that explore a variety of media and techniques. We want to elevate your artistic experiences and offer unique art classes with contemporary twists. We’re excited to work with you on your creative journey and make something beautiful together!

Mad Scientist Camp (week of June 17)
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics are all important subjects. However, Art and Design are important to incorporate into a student’s learning. During this camp, we will create art projects that are not only fun and exciting, but also raise questions, giving your child the opportunity to find creative solutions. “Artists and scientists both ask big questions; designers and engineers both provide inspired solutions. Under the Sea Camp (week of June 24)
This week Campers will be exploring the deep blue sea. We’ll decorate picture frames with sea shells. Create wall worthy art using sand and make awesome ocean sticker scenes. limited time only” or “only 7 remaining!”

Mighty Jungle Camp (week of Aug. 12)
This week is all about nature! We will explore, learn, and learn while learning about our planet. Put on your safari hat and take a walk on the wild side with us as we explore what lies deep within the jungle.

Tropical Paradise Camp (week of July 15)
We are going to whisk you away to a tropical paradise this week! Dust off your Hawaiian shirt, get your Hula on and join us for the best luau of the summer! Children will make their own lei, compete in the limbo contest, and enjoy tropical themed activities as we travel to paradise.

Space is the Place Camp (week of Aug. 5)
Swirling planets, rocket ships, and lots of glowing materials will fill our classroom this week! We’re blasting off to outer space for this week of Camp Fun. During Space Week, campers will learn about the solar system, pretend to be an astronaut by decorating their own rocket ship and craft their own stars and planets necklaces.

Inventors Workshop Camp (week of July 29)
Let your imagination and creativity run wild during Inventors Workshop Camp! Campers will dive into the world of Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and the Wright Brothers to build all sorts of things made from recycled materials. Campers will brainstorm to invent and design the ultimate invention!

Fairly Tale Camp (week of Aug. 19)
Once upon a time…Each day within the Fairy Tales for Kids week we will focus on a different story! Campers will bond by recreating the magical classic tales through a variety of games and art.

Artful Antics (week of July 8)
There are many tools and mediums that can be explored in the art world!

Campers will break out the paints and natural materials as we they try a different method of creativity each day. While finger painting is fun for toddlers it can also be fun for older campers as they love getting messy and working with texture!

Animal Planet Camp (week of July 22)
Do you have a camper who loves animals?
This week we will dive into our animal planet and discover animals from precious puppies to cranky crocodiles! Campers won’t want to miss out on exploring creatures from all over the planet as we decorate the studio with their jungle and forest themed art!

Under the Big Top Camp (week of Aug. 12)
This week we will leave no part of the circus behind!
Cotton candy crafts made out of puffy paint, circus clown faces dazzled with glitter and sparkly pom-poms and one of a kind carnival masks are just a few of the activities your child will enjoy as we put on our top hat and clown around all week long!
