After falling in the first game, the Skyline Eagles walked off to the win column in the nightcap on a perfect Monday for softball. A walk-off single off the bat of Esther Cohen in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Eagles an impressive 3-2 win in the second game to earn a split with the Kicking Mules in an SEC Red Division showdown.
Mayah Alam struck out 11 to earn the win for the Eagles. She allowed just two runs, two hits and two walks over seven innings of work.
Bedford led 2-0 after the first inning. The Eagles evened the game at 2-2 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Skyline had seven hits in the game and no errors in the field.
Cohen had two hits and Nyeli Kratz was 2-for-2. Carson Fox had a hit, RBI and run scored and Jordan Hall had the other Skyline RBI.
The Kicking Mules had 12 hits and scored three runs in the second and five in the third to win the opener 8-3. The Eagles scored two in the second inning, one in the seventh and finished with five hits. Each team had three errors.
Madie Czjaka had two hits from the two hole in the Skyline lineup. Gabby Toth, Kratz and Hall also had hits for the Eagles.
Fox pitched all seven innings and took the loss. She allowed five earned runs and had seven strikeouts.
