Boys Track & Field: Huron, Skyline run up impressive showing at Oak Park Invite


Huron and Skyline spent Friday at the Oak Park Invitational and both returned to town with some strong performances in tow.

Huron went one-two in the 100 meters. Senior Ashton Sanders ran first in 10.76 seconds with fellow senior Kyle Martin in second in 10.85.

The River Rats had a strong showing in the 200 meters, taking three of the top 10 spots. Sanders ran third (22.86), Martin was fourth (23.14) and sophomore Trey Gardette was 10th (23.90). Skyline’s Thomas Crawford was 15th (24.28) and teammate Jordan Wilson was 17th (24.34).

Skyline junior Savante Daniel was fourth in the 400 meters in 51.99 with teammate TJ Dokas in seventh (53.63). Huron’s Ihsan Joseph was 17th in 57.39.

In the 800 meters, Skyline senior Jesse Edelstein was second in 2:00.48. Huron landed three runners in the top 10 with James Cardwell (5th, 2:05.50); Donovan Smith (7th, 2:09.38); and Cionne Harris Casanova (9th, 2:11.11). Skyline’s David Evans was 10th in 2:13.23.

In the 1600 meters, Huron senior Karsin Dass was fourth (4:45.62). Skyline’s Isaac Darragh was fifth (4:47.18) and teammate Hobbs Kessler was eighth (4:55.05). Huron’s Bertrand Chu was 13th (5:04.68) and teammate Drake Dowdy was 15th (5:06.01). Skyline’s Daniel Evans was 16th in 5:09.95.

Skyline senior Keegan Oldani was fifth in the 3200 meters in 10:27.91. Huron senior Robert Burke was sixth (10:37.12) and teammate Evan Ridenour was seventh (10:38.44). Skyline’s Grant Murphy was 10th (11:09.42) and teammate Aaron Von Bargen was 11th (11:14.87).

Skyline’s Logan Clark and Johnathan Faulkner had a strong showing in both hurdle events. In the 110 hurdles, Clark was 11th (16.52) and Faulkner was 14th (16.81). In the 300 hurdles, Clark was sixth (43.03) and Faulkner was 11th (45.44).

Huron’s foursome of Divine Obi, Kyle Martin, Ibraheem Joseph and Ashton Sanders was first in the 4×100 relay in 43.97. Skyline finished ninth in 45.89.

The Eagles were sixth in the 4×200 relay in 1:34.13.

In the 4×400 relay, Skyline was second in 3:31.37.

Skyline’s 4×800 relay team of Isaac Darragh, Ian Steele, Brian Sabolich-Yi and Jesse Edelstein ran first in 8:12.66. Huron finished third in 8:21.41.

Huron’s Harrison Baker was 15th in the discus (93-10).

In the high jump, Skyline’s Davion Pipkins was 11th in 5-04.
