Soccer: Dreadnaughts give Tecumseh the boot, 4-2

Jamie Lewis, Dexter’s varsity soccer coach, talked earlier in the year about the process his team would have to go through during the course of the season to get where they wanted to go.

It appears the Dreadnaughts are right on course to where they want to go – which is right back to the Regionals and then beyond. Dexter continues to make steady progress and kicked another game into the win column this week with a 4-2 victory Tuesday at Tecumseh.

Carly Curry scored 2 minutes into the game on a cross from Caitlin Kimmel to get Dexter off and running. About 5 minutes later, Abby Tamer found the top corner from a tough angle on a ball played in by Curry.

The rest of the first half was back and forth with Dexter carrying most of the possession.

Early in the second half, Tamer flicked one behind the Tecumseh defense and Curry got in behind and made it 3-0 which was followed by a set piece goal taken by Kylie Cabana who found a wide open Mckenna Graham at the top of the 18 who finished in the top corner to make it 4-0.

Tecumseh fought back hard in the last 20 minutes and made the game 4-2.

Dexter hosts Jackson today (Thursday, May 2) at 5:30 p.m.
