Dexter competed in the 24th annual Golden Triangle meet of champions over the weekend. Athletes from over 60 schools competed at Saline High School.
On the boys side, the top performers were Junior Henry Sheldon winning the Pole Vault with a personal best jump of 15’2”. Sheldon currently has the 2nd best mark in Division 1, while teammate Junior Owen Huard took 2nd in both the open 1600m run and the elite Mile with times of 4:15.94, and 4:17.29. Both times are now his personal bests, and he currently ranks 3rd in D1 in the 1600m run.
The girls were lead by Senior Nicole Bow, taking 2nd in the Pole Vault (11’6”), 3rd in Long Jump (17’0”), 7th in the 100m Hurdles (16.77), and 8th in the Elite 300m Hurdles (49.05). Sophomore Josie Mettes won the girls Pole Vault with a personal best and Division 1 leading mark of 12’0”. Bow’s mark of 11’6” is currently ranked 3rd in the Pole Vault. Sophomore Brooke Steere was 5th in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 16.33.
The Dreadnaughts rounded out the day with Gwen Tatara taking 4th in the 400m (1:03.25), Emma Young 8th in the High Jump (4’10”) and Megyn Scafasci taking 7th in the 800m with a time of 2:30.30
