Baseball: Dexter sweeps visiting Ypsilanti (see photo gallery)

The Dexter baseball team scored 35 runs in two games on Wednesday as the Dreadnaughts swept visiting Ypsilanti in an SEC White Division doubleheader. Dexter won the first game 18-0 and the second game 17-1.

The Dreads put the first game to bed quickly, scoring 11 runs in the first inning and adding seven more in the second. The game was called in the third inning because of the mercy rule.

Alex Mills (three runs, two RBI and a walk) and Nate Kniesteadt (three runs, two RBI and a walk) both had two hits. Trevor Freeman had a hit with two runs scored and two RBI, Bryce Martin had a double and drove in four runs, Evan Krolewski had a hit, two runs, an RBI and walk and Chase Geimer drove in two runs.

In the nightcap, Dexter scored five in the first, two in the second, one in the third, six in the fourth and three in the fifth for a 17-1 win. The Dreads had 13 hits.

Feeman (two runs, two RBI), Zach Gulleckson, Ethan Wing and Owen James all had two hits for the winners. Kniesteadt had a hit and two RBI. Martin had a hit, three walks and scored three runs.

The Dreads play two on Saturday at Saline starting at noon.
