Softball: Dexter takes a pair from Pinckney for seventh win in last eight games

The Dreadnaughts are officially on a roll.

The Dexter softball team swept SEC White rival Pinckney on Monday and have won seven of their last eight games with the Districts not too far down the schedule. The Dreadnaughts pounded the Pirates 15-5 in the opener and then took a close 6-4 game in the nightcap to improve to 11-8 overall on the season.

Dexter scored six runs in the first, three in the second, four more in the third and two in the fourth as the Dreads pounded out 15 hits in the game.

Sam Sutton was in the circle for Dexter in the first game. She went three innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out four. Paige Sayler didn’t allow a hit in her two innings of pitching.

Sutton (three RBI, two runs scored) and Emma Sorter (two RBI, one run scored) each had a pair of doubles for the Dreads. Jenna Wagenschutz was 3-for-4 including a triple with three runs scored and an RBI. Lillie Robeson had two hits including a triple. Livvy Mellifont had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, Alexis Haley was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Brenna Cassidy had a hit, RBI and run scored.

In the second game, Dexter scored twice in the third, fourth and fifth innings and finished with six hits and two errors. Pinckney scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth and seventh and also had six hits.

Paige Sayler pitched for Dexter. She went four innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out five.

Mellifont had two hits including a double and drove in a run. Taylor Wilson had a double and an RBI. Kylee Niswonger had a hit, walk and scored a run. Maebel Robeson walked and scored twice. Sortor had a hit and an RBI and Camryn Chase had a hit and a walk.

Dexter hosts Monroe for a double-header on Wednesday.
