Baseball: Pinckney scores 10 runs in final two innings to pull away from Dexter

The final score was 16-6 but this was anything but a blowout. Two days after Dexter and Pinckney split a double header, the two SEC White rivals met on Wednesday at Pinckney and the Pirates settled the score with a 10-run victory over the visiting Dreadnaughts.

But it wasn’t easy. In fact, Dexter led after four innings. After Pinckney took a 2-0 lead in the first, Dexter answered with a pair in the top of the second.

The Dreadnaughts led 3-2 before the Pirates tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third. Dexter scored three times to go ahead 6-3 but again the Pirates answered with three in the bottom of the fourth.

With the game tied 6-6, the Pirates scored five runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth inning. Pinckney had 21 hits while Dexter had nine hits.

Nate Kniesteadt led the Dexter offense with three hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Andy Durand and Nathaniel Fiegel each had a double and an RBI. Alex Mills had a hit and a walk.

Dexter hosts Adrian on Monday.
