Soccer: Dexter hosts rival Chelsea TODAY (Thursday) in SEC Tournament championship game

And they call this the rubber match.

The Dexter varsity soccer team has played rival Chelsea twice this season – both games ended in a 1-1 draw. The Dreadnaughts appeared to have last week’s game headed to the win column when the Bulldogs netted the equalizer late in the contest.

The two teams can finally decide a winner when they face off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Dexter in the SEC White Division Tournament championship. This is the first year of an SEC tournament and it’s only being held in the White Division.

The Dreadnaughts advanced to the finals with a 5-0 win over Jackson on Tuesday. Dexter is now 11-1-6 and finished 5-1-1 in the SEC White Division regular season. The Dreadnaughts come into the finals with victories over SEC foes Bedford, Ypsilanti, Adrian and Lincoln. Their only loss in the regular season was a 2-1 defeat against Jackson.

The Dreads have settled that loss with Jackson. Now they must settle a couple draws with the Bulldogs.
