Dexter Community Fund Announces Challenge Match Campaign

DEXTER, October 21, 2019 – The Dexter Community Fund (DCF) recently announced a $100,000 Challenge Match Campaign.  Now through the end of the year, donations to Dexter Community Fund will have double the impact!  From October through December 31, 2019, ALL donations and pledges made to DCF will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000 in total gifts, by a group of local donors.

DCF Advisory Committee Chair, Julie Schumaker, states “We hope that you will consider making a donation or pledge to support our community. Not only will your donation go twice as far today, but you will be leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.” Multi-year pledges (up to 5 years) are encouraged with the full amount of the pledge being doubled.

The Dexter Community Fund, created in 2014, is a permanent endowment at the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.  DCF is dedicated to addressing community needs and enriching the quality of life within the Dexter community.  Annual grants are made to local non-profits to address community needs.  A Community Needs Assessment was conducted in 2018 and identified these as top priorities:

1) Services/programs for seniors

2) Mental health services for youth and adults

3) Improved outdoor recreational opportunities

4) Services/programs for teens

5) Services/programs for the homebound, and

6) Programs to enhance arts & culture.

To date, the Dexter Community Fund has awarded grants to eight local non-profits – Center for Independent Living, Dexter Area Historical Society, Dexter Community Players, Dexter Senior Center, Faith in Action, Girls Scouts Heart of Michigan, GrieveWell, and His Eye is on the Sparrow – to address these community needs.  As the Dexter Community Fund grows, it will support even more projects and non-profit organizations to address community needs and enrich the quality of life within the Dexter community.

Your donation or pledge made through the end of 2019 will be doubled through the Challenge Match Campaign.  Making a pledge or donation is easy:
