2020 Severe Weather “Skywarn Spotter” Training

Washtenaw County Sheriff Emergency Services in conjunction with the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac is offering Skywarn Spotter training free of charge to anyone 18 years of age or older who is interested in being trained in severe weather identification, protection, and reporting procedures. Classes will be held in Chelsea, Ann Arbor, and Saline in March 2020. The course is 1-1/2 hours long, and identification codes are issued to all who complete the program. Class sizes are limited so you must pre-register either electronically on the web at: https://www.washtenaw.org/1540/Emergency-Services or by calling (734) 973-4900 (please provide your name, phone number, class date, and verify that you are at least 18 years of age).

Faith in Action/Avalon Housing Community Meetings

The public is invited to attend community meetings about Hilltop View Apartments, the proposed Faith in Action/Avalon Housing affordable/supportive housing and permanent Faith in Action food pantry development on Dan Hoey Road in Dexter. The meetings will be held at Dexter United Methodist Church (7643 Huron River Dr) on Thursday, February 6th at 6 pm and Saturday, February 15th at 3 pm.

Property Tax Due Date Reminder

Property taxes are due on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Payments must be received at the City Office by 5 pm, postmarks are not accepted.

To ensure receipt by Tuesday the 18th at 5 pm, payments can be dropped off to the City Office (8123 Main) between 9 am and 5 pm or placed into the drop box near the door to the Sheriff’s Office (8140 Main). A 3% penalty will be applied to payments received from February 19th to February 28th. After March 1, 2020 all real property tax payments must be made directly to Washtenaw County.
