Cancellation of May 5, 2020 Election

In response to the current pandemic, City Council voted at their March 18, 2020 Special Meeting to postpone the May 5, 2020 ballot question regarding funding for the Fire Station, Sheriff Substation and City Office to the August 4, 2020 Election.

If you received an absentee ballot application, please discard it. New applications will be mailed out in late May / early June for the statewide August Election.

Census 2020

Information on the 2020 Census will soon be arriving via mail. The Census is now available to be completed online. The mailing you receive will have a code that you enter into a website that will bring up the census form. For more information please visit – https://2020census.gov/en/ways-to-respond.html.

March 23, 2020 City Council Meeting

The March 23, 2020 City Council meeting will be held at the Department of Public Works (3600 Central) at 6 pm. The agenda is limited. Public comments will be accepted via e-mail until 5 pm. The agenda can be accessed at – https://www.dextermi.gov/government/cc.php (click on 2020).

Sewer System Reminder

Please make sure to only flush toilet paper down the toilet. Flushing “flushable” wipes, Lysol/Clorox wipes and/or paper towel can cause blockages in the sewer lines that can lead to back-ups. Wipes and paper towel should be placed into the trash.
