Around Town: Pavement Markings, Absentee Voting, Summer Help

Pavement Markings

City contractor JV Contracting is scheduled to begin applying pavement markings throughout the City starting Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Due to the traffic volumes during the day, the work is planned to be completed during the overnight hours. This work will not require road closures, however some lanes may be closed while the paint dries. Please proceed carefully through work zones.

Absentee Voting

As a reminder for those voting absentee for the first time, the August Election is a primary, so voters may only vote in one party section (either the Republican column or the Democratic column), in addition to the non-partisan and proposal sections. If a mistake is made on a ballot when voting at the polls, such as voting in both party sections, the voter is given the opportunity to correct the ballot. When voting absentee, corrections must take place before Election Day. Prior to Election Day, voters may request in writing to spoil their ballot and request a new one.

If an absentee ballot is found to have been voted incorrectly while being processed on Election Day, it will still be put through the voting machine. In the case where a vote appears in the Republican and Democratic section of the ballot, however none of the votes in the partisan section will count. Any valid votes in the non-partisan and proposal section WILL count.

If you have any questions about absentee voting please reply to this e-mail or call 734-580-2234.
