“Washtenaw County: Visions of the Eagle” is Dale Fisher’s biggest, best and final book.
Within the 288-pages of this full-color coffee table book are sections on Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Milan, Saline and Ypsilanti. Also, the ChadTough Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and Michigan Medicine’s Transplant Center are spotlighted.
To celebrate, a book release / book signing party is planned for Saturday, Aug. 15, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Dale Fisher Galleries located at 1916 Norvell Road, Grass Lake, MI. Refreshments will be served. To comply with the Governors’ social distancing mandate, outdoor seating under a tent will be provided. Only 10 people will be permitted in the Wings Gallery at one time. Masks are mandatory. Reservations are requested, but not required.
Over the past eight years, literally, thousands of photographs were taken, that were not chosen. Many of these photos, as well as the photos included in the book will be on display in the Wings gallery and available for purchase. Also, many of Dale’s previous books and fine art photographs. Only 10 people will be permitted in the gallery at once.
“The Washtenaw County Book is a snapshot in time before the pandemic. This book is very different from my other books on Ann Arbor, in addition to the sections on each community and non-profits and helicopter photographs, there are many many photographs from the ground of people and events. It makes it more personal.” says Dale. The works are new and photos were taken as recent as January 2020.
For those who cannot attend the party, books are also available on the website and at MDen. Gallery tours are available by appointment.
Dale has made a career of capturing images from the open door of a helicopter. “Low-level helicopter photography gives a distinctive perspective unmatched by photographs taken from airplanes, drones, or from the ground,” says Dale.
Dale’s previous books include: “Ann Arbor: Visions of the Eagle” (volumes I, II and III); “Jackson County: Visions of the Eagle;” “Detroit;” “Detroit: Visions of the Eagle;” “MICHIGAN: From the Eyry of the Eagle;” “Southeast Michigan: Horizons of Growth;” and “Building Michigan: A Tribute to Michigan’s Construction Industry.”
The Dale Fisher Galleries are located at 1916 Norvell Road, Grass Lake. Since 1985 Dale’s 100-acre farm has been home to galleries of his works. He has a state-of-the-art digital photography laboratory and framing center. The farm is also a wedding venue and home to Michigan’s Center for the Photographic Arts. A 501 (C) 3 Dale founded to provide mentorship for children.
