The Dexter swimming and diving team splashed out of the gates with a dominating 154-28 win over Adrian in an SEC dual-meet. The Dreadnaughts took first and second place in every event and won all three relays against the visiting Maples on Thursday, Sept. 17.
The Dexter medley relay team of Lauren Witte, Maddy Matos, Emma Sortor and Theresa Rutz took first in 2:00.95. The Dexter team of Alexis TerBush, Lily Witte, Natalie Koenn and Dani Schulz was second in 2:04.85.
Hailee Waters won the 200 freestyle (2:05.06) with Charlotte Schultz in a very close second (2:05.09) and Elizabeth Higgins third (2:18.74).
In the 200 IM, Matos took first (2:30.07) with Laura Walton second (2:35.68) and Sorter third (2:37.68).
Dexter also took the top three spots in the 50 free with Marea Balcom first (26.99), Durand second (27.15) and Schulz third (28.22).
Dexter dominated the diving with Lily Witte taking first with 296.30 points. The sophomore broke her own varsity record in diving. Vivian Kinnard was second (261.35) and junior Elysa Grossman took third with a personal-best 245.45.
In the butterfly, Sortor took first in 1:07.97 with Isa Reyes second (1:10.24) and Rutz third (1:10.35).
Dexter took the top two spots in the 100 free with Gwen Tatara first (1:00.25) and Angela Castle second (1:01.58).
Waters won the 500 free in 5:41.24 with Walton taking second in 6:02.90.
The Dreads foursome of Durand, Lily Witte, Balcom and Rutz took first in the 200 free relay in 1:49.53. The team of Schulz, Castle, Claire Blodgett and Tatara was second in 1:54.18.
Dexter took the top three spots in the backstroke with Lauren Witte first (1:02.39), Schultz second (1:03.67) and TerBush third (1:10.18).
In the breaststroke, freshman Delaney Parker won her first varsity race with a time of 1:15.36. Koenn was second (1:16.24) and Matos third (1:18.57).
The group of Durand, Waters, Lauren Witte and Schultz won the 400 free relay in 4:00.01. The team of Balcom, Walton, Higgins and Tatara was second in 4:04.02. And the team of Young, Sophia Marr, Rose Clark and Paige O’Connor was third in 4:46.97.
