B2B Trail Update from HWPI: Construction of the Zeeb Road to Delhi Metropark segment begins

From the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative

We are excited to announce the start of construction of the Zeeb Road to Delhi Metropark #B2BTrail segment. Trail partners from the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority, the Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Commission and the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative safely gathered to mark the occasion and to celebrate the trail progress bringing us closer to an Ann Arbor connection.

Coy Vaughn, Director of WCPARC, and Amy McMillan, Director of HCMA, shared some thoughts on the extraordinary partnerships that make this work happen. “This project demonstrates that when people work together who have a common vision and a common goal, anything can happen. This is an inspiration for not just work on the B2B Trail System, but all projects moving forward during these difficult times,” said McMillan.

Construction on the first half of this segment, one mile of trail within the Delhi Metropark, has officially begun and will be complete in late fall. Construction on the second half of this segment, from Zeeb Rd. to the Delhi Metropark, will begin in the spring of 2021.

Other B2B Updates

M-52 Trailhead – Restoration work is almost complete at the new trailhead, including planting trees, bushes and butterfly seeding areas. Additional installations include a bench, picnic table, bike rack and bike repair station. The installation of the pit toilet is scheduled for early October to complete work at the trailhead.

Frog Island and South Grove Trail projects/City of Ypsilanti –  Construction has begun on the South Grove Road trail segment with the removal of the old sidewalk and the installation of the new concrete path. Work on this segment will continue through late September and then work on the Frog Island trail segment will begin.

North Hydro and North Grove/Ypsilanti Township – Asphalt and concrete work is complete on these two segments. Slope restoration work will be complete in late September, and we anticipate opening these two trail segments in October.
