Volleyball: Dreadnaughts knock off Pinckney in straight sets

Now, this is a good sign.

The Dexter volleyball team faced one of its biggest tests in the SEC White when the Dreadnaughts hosted Pinckney last week. Well, the Dreadnaughts passed the test in straights sets and received straight A’s against the Pirates.

Dexter set the pace with a dominant 25-15 win in the opening game and never looked back. The Dreads won game two 25-20 and finished off the night with a 25-20 win in game three.

Dexter improved to 6-1 on the season and will serve it up in the annual Dig Pink game on Tuesday at Chelsea – another SEC White Division test.

There were plenty of impressive performances against Pinckney.

Jordan Kless had 16 kills, Eleanor King had 11, Avery Goodrich netted five and Mikah Salemi had four for the Dreadnaughts.

Delaney Arnedt had 23 assists while King had 16.

In serve-attempts, Arnedt led the way with 22. Kless had 16, Livvy Mellifont had 11 and King had 10.

Mellifont had a huge night with a team-best 35 digs. King had 17 digs, Goodrich had 12, Kless had nine, Keegan Sharples had eight and Anna Creech had seven.
