The Showcase of New & Remodeled Homes is a free hybrid event inviting the public to tour 12 spectacular homes in-person and virtually. Local builders will welcome people to newly built models in-person to four homes open from 12 to 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday, Oct. 16, 17 & 18. (COVID safety precautions include capacity limits, mask requirements, sanitizing, and social distancing.)
Many of the homes also have virtual tours and live remote presentations at www.showcaseofhomes.net. This event will help people explore the latest trends, better understand their options, and connect with leading local designers & builders for anything from a modest remodel to a high-end custom home.
New home construction and remodeling have been in high demand this year as we adapt to increased time at home, coupled with low interest rates for home loans. Instead of opening occupied homes to the public for our annual Parade of Homes and Fall Remodelers Home Tour, we have embraced new technology to to present eight of these twelve outstanding homes through Virtual Tours.
Many of the participants will host live Virtual Guided Tours via Zoom that are open to the public at scheduled times beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16. The public can join by clicking a link by each home and entering a short passcode. Remote Tour Guides will take visitors through 360° photo-models of the homes as the hosts explain the features and design/build process. Some presenters will allow for Q & A and collect information from people interested in scheduling a consultation. Some live Virtual Guided Tours will be recorded and posted afterwards for people who missed the live presentations.
Prior to the Showcase weekend, visitors can explore a 3-D interactive photo model of the homes on their own, using a touch-screen, mouse, or keyboard to “walk-through” the homes. While media still being added to the website, the 40 page event program is now online. Programs will be available at the open homes, along with free tote bags.
The 2020 Showcase of New & Remodeled Homes is presented by local builders in Washtenaw and Livingston counties, through the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor (BRAG Ann Arbor) and the Home Builders Association of Livingston County (HBALC).
