Swimming: Dreadnaughts cruise past Adrian for second straight SEC victory

The Dexter boys’ swimming and diving team continued its early season splash through the SEC White Division with another easy win on Thursday. After knocking off Jackson last week to open the season, the Dreadnaughts dunked visiting Adrian 123-55 at Wylie Pool on Thursday.

The Dreadnaughts opened with an easy win the medley relay. The team of Clayton Kinnard, Adam Hauser, Leo Varitek and Matthew Resende touched first in 1 minute, 45.65 seconds – the Maples landed second in 1:55.40.

Sophomore Lucas Greatorex won the 200 free in 1:59.33. Teammate Stuart Bovich was third in 2:04.34 and Jack Potsos was fourth in 2:11.96.

Varitek, a senior, won the 200 IM in 2:07.86. Dylan O’Connor was third (2:27.15) and Grady Wheeler was fourth (2:32.98).

Kinnard, also a senior, sprinted to first place in the 50 free with a time of 22.70. Tristan Lorincz was third (25.25), Joe Sharon was fourth (26.23) and Adam Bergen was fifth (26.37) for the Dreadnaughts.

Dexter junior Cole Warren won the diving with 287.80 points.

The Dreads went one-two in the butterfly with Varitek (56.66) and Hauser (1:00.58).

Kinnard won his second individual race of the meet with a time of 49.18 in the 100 freestyle. Resende took second in 53.95 and Potsos was fourth in 58.80.

Bovich was second in the 500 free with a time of 5:38.98 followed by Otto Krueger (5:59.94) and Wheeler (6:15.96).

Dexter’s 200 free relay team of Kinnard, Varitek, Resende and Hauser touched first in 1:34.43. The team of Potsos, Bergen, Wheeler and Krueger was third in 1:48.29.

Dexter touched one-two-three in the backstroke with Greatorex (1:02.22), Travis Fitch (1:13.64) and Lorincz (1:15.12).

In the breaststroke, Hauser was first in 1:09.27. O’Connor was third in 1:30.36.

The team of Bovich, Potsos, Resende and Greatorex won the 400 free relay in 3:49.42. The group of Krueger, Fitch, O’Connor and Lorincz was third in 4:03.68.
