In a continuing effort to keep volunteers safe, St. Mary Pinckney’s famous fish fry goes mobile

As area non-profits and local churches get geared up for Lent – which begins Feb. 17, two words come to mind, FISH FRY. And St. Mary Pinckney knows how to throw a FISH FRY!!!

Lenten season is upon us and this year it comes with some extra suffering.
At St. Mary Pinckney, the older volunteers who have quarterbacked traditional fish dinners for 25 years, simply cannot risk it this year so they will be staying home. At the same time, faith-based organizations are in dire need of fundraising.

To meet the need and help their high-risk parishioners, St. Mary turned to younger school families and volunteers who are taking over the fish fry and learning “on the fly.”

In the passing of the torch, the “Drive By Fish Fry” was born at St. Mary. After proudly serving Lenten fish dinners for over 25 years, St. Mary Pinckney is taking it on the road with drive-thru and carry-out service.

The two menu options include Bated & Baked: Baked fish, au gratin potatoes (GF), mac & cheese, coleslaw and dessert; Fried on Friday: Fried fish, French fries, mac & cheese, coleslaw and dessert.

The St. Mary Pinckney Fish Fry is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Fridays during Lent (Feb. 19-March 26). St. Mary is located at 10601 Dexter Pinckney Road. For more information, call 734-878-3161.
