The Dexter girls’ basketball team is starting to hit its stride and quickly stepping into elite territory. After opening the season with a loss at Farmington Hills Mercy, the Dreadnaughts went back-to-back on Thursday and Friday and scored consecutive wins to improve to 2-1 on the season.
And they did in style on both ends of the floor.
In Dexter’s win over Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, the Dreads scored 25 points in the second quarter – the same amount they scored the entire game in the opening loss to Mercy. But what’s more impressive is Dexter held Notre Dame to one point in the third quarter and two points in the fourth quarter. These Dreads can play some D.

Dexter won the game 67-24 as four players scored in double figures and everyone on the team earned a spot on the score sheet.
The Dreadnaughts led 13-3 after one quarter and 38-21 at halftime.
Sydney Pnacek led Dexter with 16 points, including two triples. Alayna Babut scored 12 points and Kylee Niswonger and Brianna Rodriguez each scored 10. Kayla Rivers and Shannon Schoch each scored five for the winners.
Dexter gets a couple days to catch its breath. They return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at home against Milford.
