After having trouble putting the ball in the basket on Monday against Chelsea, the Dexter girls’ basketball team was back on the mark against Lady of the Lakes on Wednesday night. They also were back in the win column following a 61-42 victory over Lakes in a non-league game at Dexter.
The Dreadnaughts converted five triples and scored 21 points in the first quarter as they apparently fixed the shooting problem that turned out to be a key factor in their loss to the Bulldogs. Dexter led 31-21 at halftime and then outscored the visitors 18-10 in the third quarter and 12-11 in the final quarter.
Dexter had three players score 12 or more points. Kayla Rivers knocked down four triples, including two in the opening period, and finished with a game-high 16 points for the Dreadnaughts. Sydney Pnacek scored eight of her 15 points in the third quarter and also hit a triple in the opening quarter. Shannon Schoch scored six of her 12 points in the first quarter.
Alayna Babut delivered two triples in the first quarter and finished with six points, Kylee Niswonger scored five and Chloe Perry had four points. Maddi Valentine had two points and Liv Mellifont had a point for Dexter.
The Dreadnaughts play at SEC rival Pinckney on Monday.
