Boys Basketball: Dreadnaughts fall to Pinckney in SEC showdown

“It was a bad night to have a bad night,” said Dexter Coach Jason Rushton.

The Dexter boys’ basketball team came into Monday night’s game with Pinckney with impressive wins over Chelsea, Monroe and Parma Western. The Dreadnaughts were dribbling with confidence as they took on the SEC White Division leading Pirates.

But the Dreadnaughts picked a bad night to have a bad night.

“We just couldn’t seem to make a shot,” Rushton said.

And the Pirates took advantage as they built a 10-6 first-quarter lead and took a 22-15 advantage into halftime. Pinckney outscored Dexter 10-7 in the third and put the game away with a 20-11 run in the fourth quarter for a 52-33 win at Dexter.

Colin Parachek led the Dreadnaughts with 13 points and seven rebounds. Cal Bavineau had a solid game with nine points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Luke Lovell led Pinckney with 20 points while Charlie Lovell added 13.

The Dreadnaughts look to rebound on Thursday at Tecumseh.
