Basketball: Boys and girls knock off Adrian with Chelsea coming up on Friday

The Dexter boys’ and girls’ basketball teams are heading down the home stretch and adding to the win column as they both complete already successful seasons.

The boys improved to 12-3 on the season with a 57-42 win at Adrian on Tuesday night.

Thanks to three triples, Dexter jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter but the Maples stormed back with an 18-10 run in the second quarter as the teams headed to halftime tied at 31-31.

The Dreadnaughts knocked down four triples and outscored their hosts 20-6 in the third quarter to put the game away. Dexter outscored Adrian 6-5 in the final period.

Colin Parachek led Dexter with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Cal Bavineau continues his improved offense with 11 points, 10 assists and a big five rebounds. Evan Haroldson added 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks.

Big man Sam Sterlitz had eight points in the paint, six rebounds and three blocks.

Dexter hosts rival Chelsea on Friday with a share of the SEC White title on the line.

Girls

The Dexter girls’ team made quick work of the Maples on Tuesday with a 61-12 win. The Dreadnaughts led 28-2 after the first quarter and 46-2 at halftime after holding Adrian scoreless in the second quarter.

Shannon Schoch had 13 points, Kayla Rivers scored 12, Maddi Valentine had nine points and Alayna Babut and Sydney Pnacek each scored eight for the Dreads.

Dexter plays at rival Chelsea on Friday.
