Boys Basketball: Local teams prepare for upcoming and competitive Districts

The local boys’ basketball teams are gearing up for the high school District tournament which begins next week. Let’s take a look at what the locals have lined up.

Dexter will host Division 1 District 17 and the bracket includes some quality teams including the host Dreadnaughts.

Skyline, sitting out this week because of a positive COVID test, will play South Lyon at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23. The Eagles hopefully will get one practice in before opening District play.

Host Dexter will face Brighton at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the second game.

The South Lyon-Skyline winner will play South Lyon East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 25. The Brighton-Dexter winner plays Pinckney at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The finals are at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.

In District 18 hosted by Lincoln, Pioneer will face a strong Lincoln team at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23 with the winner taking on a very talented Belleville team at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 25. The other side of the bracket features Saline playing Ypsilanti at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner of that game gets state-powerhouse and currently undefeated Huron at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The finals are at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.

Father Gabriel Richard is headed to Chelsea where the Irish will play Fowlerville in a first-round game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner will face Williamston at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Host Chelsea will play Stockbridge at 5:30 on Tuesday in a semifinal game. The finals are at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.

In Division 3, Greenhills will play host Whitmore Lake at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ypsilanti Arbor Prep will face the winner of Lutheran Westland-Brighton Charyl Stockwell at 7 p.m. The finals are at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.
