It’s been a frustrating start of the season for the Dexter baseball team, but they are only a big hit or nice play in the field or a key strikeout away from turning things around. The Dreadnaughts have lost four of their first eight games by a single run. One of their other games, the second game with Hartland on April 5, ended in a 4-4 tie.
One of those heartbreaking, one-run losses came on Monday against Tecumseh. After falling behind 3-1 in the first, Dexter scored three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead. But it didn’t last long. The Indians scored three in the bottom of the sixth and scored the game winner with a run in the ninth for a walk-off 7-6 win.
Dexter had 11 hits to nine for Tecumseh. The Dreadnaughts had three errors in the game.
Dexter’s Cam Rosen had a nice game at the plate with three hits and two RBI. Evan Krolewski was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk. Cole Arnedt, Joey Tessmer, Brennan Parachek, Nathan Deleruyelle, Ethan Hochendoner and Jonathan Rosevelt all had hits for the Dreads.
Dexter was winning the second game 3-0 when the game was called. Shay Ohtonen was dealing, allowing just two hits with three strike outs for the Dreadnaughts. Krolewski, Zach Gullekson (two hits) and Avery Berkebile had RBI.
