Golf: Dexter varsity and JV teams put up impressive results on the links

The Dexter varsity golf team played in the Omni Kinetics Invite at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington Twp. The Dreadnaughts had another top 5 finish out of 15 teams in this event despite playing an unfamiliar and challenging course.

Co-Captains Jack Kolka (85) and Dom Sortor (85) led the Dreadnaughts on the scorecard.  Joey Fracassi (86), Niko Michos (87) and Lucas Koone (95) rounded out the five golfers in this event.

Jack & Dom tied for 22nd out of 79 players on a day when lower scores were hard to find.  Joey finished 27th, Niko 28th and Lucas 57th.

“All in all, a good round for our team and we were able to compete with some different teams,” said Dexter Coach Greg Palkowski.

On April 19, the Dreadnaughts played at Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield Township and finished second out of 13 teams with a team total of 341 – six strokes behind eventual winner, Novi.

The team was led by Kolka (78), Michos (86), Sortor (88), Fracassi (89) and Gage Pulford (95). Jack’s 78 was 2nd in the individual standings with a total of 70 players in the field. Niko tied for 11th, Dom tied for 14th, Joey tied for 18th and Gage tied for 36th.

Junior Varsity

On Saturday, the Dexter JV team turned right around with back-to-back tournaments and played in the Ace & Bob Bylerlein at Hudson Mills. Dexter finished 12th out of 18 teams and was led by Nate Guinta (87).

Rounding out the five golfers in this event were Jacob Hofe (88), Dylan Hutchison (92), Jack Needham (96) and Xavier Cook (111).  This was Xavier’s first event as a Dexter golfer. Nate and Jacob finished tied for 35th and tied for 39th out of 102 golfers in this event.

On Friday, the JV played in the 2021 Highlander Classic at Ironwood Golf Course and finished 9th out of 20 teams and was led by Hofe (88). He was followed by Allen Labadie (89), Hutchison (96), Needham (115) and Aidan Naughton (116). Jacob finished tied for 13th out of a 102 player field while Allen’s 89 finished in a tie for 15th.

Kudos to Coach Anderson and the JV team on a strong showing in their first event of the season.
