Track & Field: Dreadnaughts ‘showcase’ talents at Saline Invitational

The Dexter boys and girls track and field teams participated in the Saline May Day Showcase Invitational on Saturday. And while no team scores were kept, the Dreadnaughts turned in a track full of outstanding performances.

Seven teams participated in the meet and highlights for the boys and girls included multiple finishes for many individuals.

Cole Cabana finished 1st in the 100m, 2nd in the 2oom. Josh Lamb finished 4th in the 3200m run, and 7th in the 1600m. Cole Sheldon won the Long Jump, tied for 1st in the Pole Vault, and finished 5th in the 100m.

Wilson Kasischke won the 300m Hurdles, and also was on the winning 4x400m relay. That relay featured Kasischke, Jonny Adamczyk, Micah Davis, and Nathan Gariepy. Davis also finished 2nd in the High Jump, and Junior James Livingston finished 4th in the Shot Put.

On the girls side of the track, Gracie Burns finished 1st in the 100m, 6th in the 400m and was part of the 4×400 relay that finished 4th. That Relay included Ashley Mitchell, Gwen Tatara, Burns, and Meghan McGill.

Mitchell went on to take 6th in the 800m, and was on the 4×800 Relay that took 5th, along with her were Amanda McGill, Hannah McComas and Katie Varitek. McComas also finished 2nd in the 1600m run.

Gwen Tatara. in addition to the 4×400 Relay, took 4th in the 100m, and 5th in the 400m. In the field events, Jamie Giese won the Shot Put, and Abby Marek took 2nd in the Discus throw.

Dexter High Jumpers went 1st and 2nd with the top spot going to Haley Craig, then Abigail Van Noord, who also tied for 4th in the Pole Vault.

Dexter Vaulters dominated the day with 1st by Sophia Mettes, 2nd Josianne Mettes, 3rd Makenzie Stock, and also tied for 4th was Isabella Behnke.
