Baseball: Krolewski’s grand slam helps lead Dreads over Adrian

Host Adrian scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead but Dexter took over after that to crush the Maples 12-2 thanks to 11 hits and a seven-run fourth inning.

Dexter tied the game at 2-2 in the second and then took a 3-2 lead into the fourth when the Dreadnaughts put up seven runs to blow the game open. Dexter added two more in the sixth.

The Dreads improve to 19-7-2 on the season.

Tysen Bell started and worked the first inning for Dexter. Avery Berkebile pitched the final five innings and allowed just one hit and one walk to keep the Maples off the scoreboard.

Evan Krolewski had a huge day. The Dexter clean-up hitter did exactly that with four RBI off a grand slam in that seven-run fourth inning. He also had a single and scored twice.

There were plenty of other big hitters for the Dreads. Cam Rosen (two runs) and Davis Bennett also had two hits in the win. Zach Gullekson had a hit, two walks and scored twice and lead-off hitter Braeden Fuson walked three times and had an RBI.

The Dreadnaughts play at Northville on Friday.
