Boys Basketball: Dexter dribbles past Monroe to improve to 2-0 in SEC

The Dexter boys’ basketball team dribbled out to an early lead and never looked back in a 51-38 victory Tuesday over visiting Monroe. The win gives the Dreadnaughts a 2-0 record in the SEC Red Division.

Dexter led 19-11 after one quarter and 30-17 at halftime.

Ty Rychener had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals and Evan Haroldson also had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals to lead the Dreads.

Cal Bavineau had 10 points, 5 assists and 6 steals.

“I thought we were a lot more active defensively (Tuesday) than we were on Friday (an OT win over Pioneer) and created our offense with our defense,” said Dexter Coach Jason Rushton. “We still have some work to do to get to where we want to be, but we’re starting to see improvement in practice each night with our effort and the way we compete.”

Dexter plays at Bedford on Friday night.
