Dexter Coach Jason Rushton couldn’t have said it any better: “Any win on the road in the SEC is a good win!”
The Dreadnaughts picked up one of those “good wins” on Friday night with a 58-39 victory over Bedford as Dexter heads into the holiday break with a perfect start at 3-0.
“We came out and set the tone from the start with our defense and ability to get out in transition,” Rushton said. “The energy we had from our bench when they were on the floor was amazing.”
Dexter led 15-11 after the first quarter and used a 17-9 second quarter run to take a 32-20 halftime lead. The Dreads outscored the Kicking Mules 16-10 in the third quarter to take a commanding 48-30 lead into the final period.
Senior guard Cal Bavineau led the Dreadnaughts with 14 points, 8 assists and 3 steals.
Evan Haroldson scored all of his 13 points in the first half including three triples in the first quarter. “He also did a great job playing big against (Andrew) Hollinger when we got in early foul trouble,” Rushton said. Hollinger was the only Bedford player in double figures with 17 points.
Ty Rychener had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Brennan Parachek also had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks.
“This was a great team win on the road as we head into break and prepare for Walled Lake Western in the Motor City Roundball Classic on Dec. 28,” Rushton said.
